If you had to know everything about car mechanics and car history, the number of car people would have no more than two digits in it.

Personally, I don’t think that there are any “true car people”. Nobody knows everything about every aspect about cars.

As far as with the car scene here (In Scotland) most people are judgemental of you and your car at first glance and most times it’s negative which caused me to drift off from the car clubs and seek the company of myself and friends whom are into cars.

I find myself enjoying my own company driving on the roads myself which caused me to realise something no one touches on while talking about “Car people”

There is a growing number of what I like to call, “Lone Wolfs” who just seek the company of themselves because like myself they never really fit in with a certain niche. I like to keep my car different from the norm so it was hard for me to find others like me since most people just copy paste each others cars. But in turn doing that people judge me on my car for looking outwith the “group” so to speak.

On the other hand though. When I meet someone who has a different style etc I get along with them instantly and find myself very interested in them and there car.

Do you feel the same David or anyone else for that matter?

Great Video!

Sounds like he’s met some right douche’s. I’m an engineer and I’m not claiming to be the fountain of knowledge but generally people ask me a lot of questions about how to do stuff and how things work, they just need a little help and a point in the right direction and try not to be a condescending toss pot whilst doing it.

I HATE when i hear someone make fun of not knowing something about cars. We all started somewhere. NO ONE was born with the knowledge of how everything works. At one point in time you didnt know how a turbo worked. Or what a limited slip dif was. Every time i talk to someone i tell the never be afraid to ask me something. I wont make fun of you for looking for more knowledge. Unless you’re some punk who thinks they know it all and are clearly wrong and won’t accept the fact. Show respect to everyone. The person asking you about cars probably knows a lot more than you about something else.

I’ve changed a carburetor gasket on a chainsaw before, does that mean I’m qualified?
Ugh, idk how to properly even service my Mazda and I get the same kind of reactions from some people… “So I heard you’re into cars? Have you ever rebuilt your entire engine twice while blindfolded and upside down and drunk and high and angry and crying and being tortured and in a coma? Then you can’t call yourself a petrolhead.” Sad…
