Why Is This Guy's Ferrari F40 Blue?
Photographer Sam Moores owns one of the most well-known F40s in the UK, but why is it blue? Let the man himself explain in this vlog...
The colour chat starts at about the 13min 30sec mark (although it’s worth watching the whole thing, since it’s not often you see the owner of a car like this talk so candidly about it), but the reason for the colour is all because of carbonfibre weave.
Since this car was wearing white, mostly aftermarket panels when Sam bought it, the car needed a splash of paint once the bare carbon, stock parts were re-installed. It would have been difficult to get visible weave using the original Rosso Corsa, so Sam opted for a completely custom shade of blue.
If you had a car like this and needed a respray, would you be tempted to go for a non-original colour?

I want to repaint my Hummer in a non-original color when I get it restored. It’s my dream vehicle and I don’t care about resale…But it will all come down to price. I can’t justify a $10k color change when it’s already going to have a lot of other work done.
Because he’s about to sell it to Shmee150.
I think Gas Monkey Garage once made a black f40 as well
Yea but many complained about that as well
Well, it was an utter wreck so they ended up having to paint it as well, I really like how they kept the red for the F40 indentation on the wing
Just saying…
That blue kills the classy essence of a retro Ferrari. Red would be far better.
Fast LHD cars are next to useless in the UK.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
This my F40
And it’s also blue
This is one of the best looking F40 i’ve seen, and i’ve seen quite a few. I totally agree with non conventional colors in rare cars, as long as it stays sober.
There’s a F40 in the U.K? That brings me joy
This car used to be owned by Wataru Kato of Liberty Walk in Nagoya, Japan. It had much more hardcore modifications than what the current owner has done in Britain.
That being said, I think the blue color looks bland and boring and it was much more exciting before!
I’m blue da ba dee da ba da…
