The World's Fastest Toyota Starlet Is A Tiny 9 Second Dragster
These Maltese tuners go crazy with a 1.3-litre runabout
When you're contemplating a dragster project, a city runabout like the Toyota Starlet is probably the last thing on your mind. Zisco Performance ignored preconceptions to tune a serious dragster.
The car is based in Malta, and competes at the Hal Far Raceway in the southeast corner of the island. Zisco took the 4E-FTE engine found in the Starlet GT Turbo and modified it heavily to produce this ridiculous 1.3-litre motor.
The videos claim to show record-breaking runs, with the second video taking place last week. The Starlet makes an incredible noise, before launching ferociously on to a quarter-mile time of 9.688 seconds at 147.69mph.
This may be an unlikely drag hero, but we love its quirky, brutal nature.
