Would You Rather: Own An Appreciating Cayman GT4, Or A Depreciating Aventador?

If you were given the choice between an appreciating GT4 (itself an incredibly fast and accomplished sports car) or a Lamborghini Aventador supercar that will lose you money, which is it to be?

Porsche. It’s just so damn sexy, plus with the mid engine set up you get instant power delivery. I once got to drive one when I met the manager of a Porsche dealership, long story, but anyways he offered a test drive in any porsche and I almost fainted. It was the most incredible drive I’ve ever had.

Is it an option to get the Aventador, sell it then get whatever the hell I want?

Gt4 is sexier and way better looking. Also avoid deprecation like the plague

Frankly, I do not believe in depreciation. I understand how it works, but it simply doesn’t work for me, because I never view a car purchase as an investment. When I buy a car, I expect the spent money to be gone into the ether - consumed. Just like when I buy a hamburger and eat it, I don’t expect to get any money after I’m done with it. It’s a one-time expense and if it can be sold for anything at all, that’s only an added bonus to the purchase. That’s how I view things, anyway, and I hope I managed to explain it understandably enough :) In any case, the Cayman would be my choice

I’ve always had a huge crush on the aventador, so that’s my choice. Don’t get me wrong, the GT4 is an amazing car. But it’s just personal preference. Hopefully I don’t sound like a huge fanboy.

If you own a car long enough it will eventually appreciate by becoming “classic.”

I think the point of the post is actually an appreciating inferior car vs a depreciating superior car

If I want an Aventador that bad, I’ll keep the gt4 until it’s worth enough, then sell it for an Aventador. Then its a win win situation.

If I had the money I’d buy the Cayman gt4 in a heartbeat. Such a drivers car. Screw the resale value. I’d never sell it… that and it would be worth 50 pence after I’d had my way with it on track. Cars are for driving.
