Yes, Pagani Has Actually Made Yet Another One-Off Zonda

The Pagani Zonda MD is here, making us wonder if the Italian supercar company's first car will ever die...
Yes, Pagani Has Actually Made Yet Another One-Off Zonda

I’ve been trying to think of things which are more resilient than the life-span of the Pagani Zonda. Madonna’s singing career comes to mind, or maybe that residue that gets stuck to the bottom of your cereal bowl after you’ve had Weetabix. You see, the Zonda has been around in one form or another for 17 years now, and was actually replaced four years ago by the Huayra. But even after Zonda production officially ended, we’ve had a steady stream of one-off specials. And now there’s another one: the Zonda MD.

Still, unlike Madonna’s singing career or those Weetabix leftovers that frequently blight your crockery, few will complain about the Zonda sticking around, and besides - with the Huayra’s 100-unit run sold out, commissioning a one-off Zonda seems like a decent way to get hold of a Pagani, assuming you’re rich enough. What’s more, this new ‘MD’ model looks particularly stunning.

The carbonfibre body is barely covered by a thin layer of blue paint, showing off all the glorious weaves underneath. It looks similar to the Zonda 760 thanks to its roof scoop and massive rear wing, and us running the same 7.3-litre AMG-sourced V12, kicking out 750bhp assuming there are no internal changes.

Other than that, and the fact the ‘MD’ name comes from the owner’s initials (it’s nothing doctor-related, in case you were wondering), details are rather thin on the ground. We’ve no idea exactly how much it cost to commission, but what we’re looking at here is almost certainly several million dollars worth of car.

So, if you have lots and lots of money, make sure you give Horatio Pagani a call - clearly he’s still willing to knock together a Zonda or two. For us normal folk, we’ll have to remain content with just guessing how many more of these one-off Zondas there’ll be.

Place your bets…

Just for reference, 17 years is the length of time the Vauxhall Vectra was in production. 1988-2009

Forgive me, but Pagani only producing new Zondas with probably small differences on visual and engine, but gladly the chassis is a different story. I just hope they made a ultimate version of the Zonda which is only one BUT not for sale, put it in the Museum of Cars and Voila, Pagani just made a history.

Pagani is doing like Porsche and their 911’s, they all look the same. Bet that Richard Hammond like them a lot.

Like the 911 and, to a lesser extent, the Corvette, the Zonda will always be on the market and will always look nearly identical to it’s previous iteration.

Although, to be honest, I’m not sure how they’re staying afloat. I’ve never personally seen a Pagani IRL, so I have to believe they’re a bit behind the segment leaders (Lamborghini, McLaren) in sales.

I wonder if it’s for a doctor, hence the “MD”

Pagani is acting like a video game boss which you thought you had defeated but keeps coming back stronger and cleverer with shiny new armor and attacks… and you are like “dude I thought we’d be done by now” …
