Is a Type-R a good investment?

Typically cars in themselves are bad investments especially if you don’t care about how many miles you put on your vehicles (like me). I was looking to get a Honda Civic type R or a 17-18 Mustang GT (sentimental, first car was a red,84’,4-speed,rust bucket that lasted 30 days) as a…daily/track car,if I can’t daily and track it the speed has no purpose. Since Honda’s hold their value I wonder if this car could potentially appreciate as I wring it out everywhere. I know ones fwd/rwd,4cyl/v8,Japanese/America and so on. Any thoughts beyond that would really help, then again I may not buy anything. #indecisive

Typically cars are bad investments unless they are rare, exotic or classic (think muscle).

I think it will actually be a “bad investmen”. There are very few modern cars that will become a classic.
While I like the new Type R many people don’t.
The inline 4 turbo engine with 2 liters is “nothing special” you see those everywhere. Also with the “fancy” looks it will look outdated really quickly.

Good investments are either already well known classics or some really timeless and special cars.
What I can imagine is that the first gen Type R (EK9?!?) can hold it’s value if it’s somewhat stock and you manage to keep it in mint condition.

I’d love to have a old Honda but everything has been stolen, stripped or modded to oblivion in the US.

If you have the money for a brand new type r, don’t one word depreciation 2 years time that car will be 20-25 grand I guarantee it, if you have that money your better off with a classic, some hold there value amazingly well.

Cars are not investments, apart from future classics which the Type R probably won’t be. If you like the car, buy it, but don’t expect it to gain value.

Just interested to see the peoples opinion. I was trying to justify the purchase as I wouldn’t drive it as a daily and it being a numbered car I wonder if it would appreciate. Generally I stack miles on things lol
