Introducing the Wagon Mafia Tribe

What is Wagon Mafia?

Wagon Mafia originates from a sticker which wagon lovers use to express themselves, and is a name for petrolheads who love wagons, otherwise known as shooting brakes or estate cars.

Why are wagons so great?

Many people in the car community have come to love wagons, shooting brakes, and estate cars due to their extra practicality and similar road handling compared to normal sedans (saloons). Car guys hate the idea of most bland minivans and crossovers, so wagons are the go-to choice for many car people. A wagon can also save a car guy who desperately needs something that can help in transporting children, and can not afford an extra fun car. Wagons also make great sleepers, as you can beat many sports cars in a family car if you buy one in high stock trim, or use mods. Lastly, many of us just prefer the look of a wagon. Whether it is a boxy Volvo 240, a nicely curved Subaru Legacy GT-B, or a grand three row Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, wagons have a certain type of class. Also, there is a certain exclusivity with a wagon in some parts, as SUVs, Sedans, and Minivans clutter the roads. Whatever reason, wagons are definitely popular in the automotive enthusiast community.

What is this Tribe going to be for?

This tribe is going to be for users to post comments related to wagons, including their own wagons, blog posts about wagons, wagons spotted in the wild, and related content. I recommend you keep posts of copyrighted content including images to a minimum, as this is a policy on Drivetribe. You can use any images off of Wikipedia as they are royalty free under Creative Commons, and images used in original blogs or for visual aid will be tolerated. Also, I plan to do a wagon of the week segment, where users get pictures of the wagon featured once a week. I can only do this if there are enough users with wagons. Drawing may also be featured if submissions run low. With my original content on the tribe, I plan to discuss the history of the Station Wagon and the place of wagons in the modern automotive landscape.

When can I join?

Right now, only early access users and tribe leaders can join the tribe. Do not worry though, Drivetribe will be going public later this month and then you can join. Please note, that I am not suggesting you all leave Car Throttle. I still love this site and will post content here, but this is a chance for me to branch out and do something different. Drivetribe is a different kind of site to Car Throttle, and I think that will become apparent when the site goes public. Also, for mobile users, the site works well on my phone and I have heard an app will be released at launch. I hope you guys can help this project succeed, and that we can build something great.
