Citroën 2CV 4x4 Sahara #Blogpost
The Citroën 2CV was a small front-engine and front-wheel-drive car produced by Citroën from 1948 until 1990.
The car was mainly used to try to motorize the French farmers who often still used horses and carts. It was the perfect car for the normal civilian, because the car was cheap to maintain.
The first 2CV’s were powered by a 375cc H2 engine producing only 9hp. The later models produced 29hp.
The only design requirements was that the customer should be able to drive across a freshly ploughed field with a basket of eggs in the car without any of the eggs breaking.

In 1958 Citroën decided to make a four-wheel drive version of the 2CV, intended for the French colonies in Nothern America.
The interesting part about the Sahara was the way they did the four-wheel drive system, instead of using a conventional system they decided to simply add a second engine.
The car was powered by two 425cc H2 engines with each producing 12hp. Each engine also had its own fuel tank. The engine in the front would power the front wheels and the one in the back powers the rear wheels. The car had a single gear stick, clutch pedal and accelerator pedal which were connected to both engines. The topspeed was only 65km/h (40mph) one one engine and 105km/h (65mph) with both engines running.
Because of its decreased change of being stranded and its four-wheel drive traction it became very popular with off-road enthusiasts.
I’ve had very little time to make this, so that’s why it isn’t as long as usual.
