Got the Spintires: Mudrunner - American Wilds Expansion. Here is a vehicle gallery and some info for you!

So, today saw the release of the new Mudrunner DLC, and while, let’s be honest, Red Dead 2’s release will pack the much bigger punch in a few days, I for one have been anticipating this expansion for a while, because I love the base game and its free DLCs so far.

Spintires: Mudrunner is an off-road exploration-trucking simulator with an impressive physics engine and graphics, so if you like the sound of that and want a less competitive, more strategic, possibly relaxing (except if you screw up. Then you will swear like a sailor!) game, give it a try. I play on PS4, it is also available on Xbox One, but you can get loads of mods on PC.

Anyway, American Wilds. You get two new maps in the expansion, one based on Montana, the other on North Dakota. They do not look dramatically different from the levels of the base game, but many assets have been re-skinned to fit the States. There are also two new challenges in challenge mode to complete.

But, of course, the most important aspect of the pack are the new vehicles. The series mainly focused on Eastern Bloc models so far, so the added variety of the American models is more than welcome. For the first time ever, the vehicles do not only bear a striking resemblance to their real life counterparts, but they have actually been licensed! Also, good news: the new vehicles can be used on the old maps, and the old vehicles can be used on the new maps. There are 9 of them in total:

Recon:

  • Chevrolet K5 Blazer
  • Ford F150
  • Hummer H1
Being a car guy, as opposed to a truck guy, I always have the most fun with this category.

Light trucks:

  • Ford LTL9000
  • Freightliner FLD120
  • Chevrolet Bison

Heavy-duty machines:

  • Western Star 6900XD
  • K-8400 Skidder
  • K-9000 Forwarder

Of course, you can modify each vehicle with several add-ons. Following are a few pictures I took while completing the first map and comparing the new vehicles to the old ones. Have fun and game on, CTzens!

It is a completely different beast than the light, underpowered recon vehicles of the base game! :)
