Top Ten Wagons

To start of, this list is just my opinion. I count shooting brakes, estate cars, and touring versions in this top ten wagons list. I will put some as multiple models and some as one model. Wagons are the best type of family car to me, offering loads of space, but not compromising handling like most family cars. Without further delay let the list (no particular order) begin!

#1. Subaru Legacy Wagon

Let’s start out with the one I own. It has awd standard, an amazing boxer sound, and most models looked pretty hansome. You can swap some pretty cool engines into it, and there are so many gifferent models from a gt-b, to the pleb Brighton, to a fully specced h6 Outback. It’s reliable. practical, good on style, modable, and just an all around good car. 10/10 would recommend.

#2.Volvo 200/700 series estates

The classic boxy shape is instantly recognizable, and points to a simpler time when boxy was beautiful. The cars are safe, practical, reliable, and versatile just like the Subaru, but it’s a bit more of a classic. These things make good sleepers, wether it’s turbo, 2j-z, or a supercharged ls. Wether in awd or rwd, these cars are just take you back to simpler times when looked at a boxy Volvo with lots of cargo room and said, “you know what, that looks pretty good!”

#3.Volkswsgen Passat Wagon

The Passat is a good looking car, a practical car, but it is not necessarily the first car gearhead point out as a cool wagon. From what I’very heard ftom my friend who owns one, it is very unreliable. The common ones are front wheel drive, and if you live in the us the base 4motion model only got an automatic. The monstrous w8 did, however have a manual option. These cars, do , however have a certain cool factor you wouldn’t get in the sedan, or a Jetta. This is the only choice for a true VW person who is a wagon fan.

#4. Jaguar XF-R shooting brake

The same great great engine and platform as the Jaguar XF-R, but now with more practicality. Everyone says that you have to give up your fun car when you have kids, but in this thing, just tell them to just be quiet. RWD and a nice v8 make for fun times, but can be sivikized when needed. As Jeremy Clarkson would say, it’s a jaaaaaaaaaaag, so everyone respects you in this thing. This thing is good for trips too. Just throw your stuff in the back, and cruise your way there in style. Just a great beast of a family car.

#5. Cadillac CTS-V Wagon

This is the only American car on this list, because of one reason: Americans have fallen out with the station wagon. The station wagon used to be a staple of American families, but now it’s all crossovers, suvs, minivans, and crap fwd sedans. The CTS-V wagon is just cool, nobody can take that away from it. May be not the most practical wagon on this list, but certainly the best at doing burnout, and showing American pride. This car was perfect, and that’s why Americans didn’t buy it. In America it’s all about profit margin, so why not just advertise something to death rather then making it the best it can be. It’s sad that such an amazing car never really sold well, even the lower models. If you want to be the coolest family in your town, buy this car. Dad can do burnouts when he picks up the kids from school.

#6. Audi RS4 Avant

As much as I love the RS6, I would choose the RS4 over it because it is more nimble and has always had a manual transmission The first version had a biturbo 2.7 liter V6 modified by Co’s worth to create 380 hp and 325 lbs/ft in the base RS4. The next we old have a V8 and 414 hp and 317 lbs/ft torque and the newest one had 450 hp and a new one is hopefully on the way in Avant format. These cars are fast, fun, and suprisingly practical just the way wagons should be.

#7. Mercedes C class Amg Wagon

The top C class c63 amg estate is the main oponent to the RS4 Avant, and the rivalry is still going strong. The C63, unlike the RS4, is rwd though, so it’s a bit more fun. It looks just as good, and is just as practical. One thing, though, is expect to pay more in upkeep and to buy the car, with the amg premium. All Amg cars have amazing engines, and so do the c class estates with new c63 s estate having a 6.3 510 hp V8. Any Amg c class estate won’t dissapoint and offers the highest level of luxury on the market. If I were rich, I would buy one.

#8. Vauxhaul VXR8 estate/Holden Commodore VF sportwagon

The GM Zeta platform has given birth to many great rwd beasts, but the top Vauxhall and Holden estates are the pinnacle of its success. The VXR8 estateband Commodore VF sportwagon are bassically the same car at the core, and both have rwd and the bullet proof ls3 V8. Neither are available in America, which is a shame, because these are the greatest muscle wagons ever created. The future of both models is in jeopardy, as the Australia plant closes, and the VF commodore rides to its doom in Australia. Maybe we can have a global rwd model to replace both the Chevy SS, Vauxhall VR8, and rebadge it Commodore in Australia. All I know is I want one, but in the US we will never be able to have one.

#9. Nissan Stagea a.k.a. the GTR wagon

As everyone knows, Car Throttle loves the Skyline GTR. If this site had an official car other than Phil it would be an r32 or r34 gtr. The Stagea is a wagon modrl made on the same platform as the Skyline, and is similiar in many ways to the r33, and r34 four door base skyline. The series 1 and 2 wc34 is the car we are talking about. The top engine was the 2.6L twin turbo in the gtr and the awd versions had the same system in the skyline gtr. The only real difference is that it’s a wagon, and it has different ftont facia which you can swap with the gtr. The m35 that succeeded it was ok, but the wc34 is the one that is the closest to a classic gt-r.

#10. Bmw M5 Touring

I know the e30 wagon is amazing, and I love it too, but to me the e34 m5 touringstands out as it is faster than the e30, but still a classic. The e34 BMW e34 m5 touring has massive cargo space, loads of power, and the build quality beholden of a BMW m car. It’s good for trips, track days, and just daily driving. If they made an e39 m3 wagon it would have been the best car ever made, but they never made it. The later e60 m5 wagon is also amazing, but I prefer the e34. The e60 m5 touring, however, can approach 200 mph delimited, which I find to astonishing. BMW doesn’t always make hot wagons, but when they do, they do it right.

Honorable Mentions: Ford Falcon (Australia) Wagon, Bmw e30 Wagon, Audi RS6 Avant, Mercedes E class Wagon, Saab Kombi, Polestar V60 wagon, Mitsubishi Evo Wagon, Dodge Magnum, and any cool wagon I forgot about. #topten #ctvariety #blogpost #wagonmafia Here’s a cool concept wagon as reward:

Good car, just that I think the RS4 improved on the qualities of the RS2, and is in a way it’s successor.

I was like:

#1, emm no Bimmer here

#2, still no bimmer which is okay cuz it will come

#3, still no sight of Bavaria

#4, just gonna hang on

#5, getting a little nervous here

#6, right, patience is the key

#7, i think you forgot an important wagon

#8, IT HAS TO COME EVENTUALLLY

#9 ARE YOU A MADMAN, HOW CAN YOU FORGET THE BMW

#10, nevermind…

But they made the E39 540i Wagon, which is a little close to E39 M5, but not quite, and i’m glad you chose the E34, which i feel is a little overlooked sometimes
