1995 Mazda Miata

A car that I’ve debated putting in my garage for a long time. It’s my dad’s car but it feels so much a part of me that I’ve finally given in and chosen to put it up.

The car has been in my family since it was brand new, my grandfather ordered it in this specification from Mazda in 1995. Montego blue with a hard top. It has the Torsen limited slip differential and the 1.8L engine, and of course a manual transmission. It remained stock for a long time, until my father bought it from my grandfather shortly after I was born. The first major steps in modification were some racing beat coilovers and Kosei K1 TS Wheels. As my dad’s daily driver it still had to be usable in all seasons of Colorado, so the original wheels were kept for snow tires. A few years later, my dad finally bought himself a more practical daily, which has since changed a few times. Now that the Miata doesn’t need to stay so practical some more modifications have taken place.

Modifications:
Flyin’ Miata Coilovers
Flyin’ Miata Sway Bars
Vinyl Soft Top with Glass Window
OEM R-Package Front Lip Spoiler
OEM R-Package Rear Lip Spoiler
Hard Dog Roll Bar
2 Point Strut Brace
Black Leather Shift Boot with Red Stitching and “MX-5” stitched onto it

Future Modifications Planned:
Turbocharger or Supercharger
Exhaust
Racing Seats and Harnesses
Other Miscellaneous Modifications Deemed Necessary

This summer we plan to take it to the track for the first time now that it is equipped with a full roll bar.

This car has been a huge part of my life from day 1, and is one of the reasons I am so into cars today. My dad has had this car for as long as I can remember and helping him modify it was one of the best experiences of my life. I hope I can continue the legacy of this car and keep it in the family when he chooses to pass it on to me.

Really? They are super reliable. Simple 1.8L 4 cyl. Phil was a special case and the result of bad maintenance in the past. Ours hasn’t had an issue in 22 years ever since it rolled out of the factory

I am also planning on an MX-5 project car. That is a role example. Be proud of your car!
