4 Meaningful Differences Between The Subaru BRZ and Scion FRS

  1. The manual FRS weighs 6 lbs less than the base manual BRZ. The auto FRS weighs 18 lbs less than the base auto BRZ.

  2. The FRS has a drag coefficient of 0.27, vs 0.28 (with spoiler) or 0.29 (without spoiler) on the BRZ. I believe this is due to panels under the car. (Series.Blue BRZ is 0.27).

  3. The FRS has softer springs up front and stiffer springs in the rear vs the BRZ. Theoretically this makes it slightly less prone to understeer.

  4. The Series.Blue BRZ wheels weighed about 3 lbs less (per wheel) vs the FRS. (Both are 17” alloys).

“The BRZ has softer springs up front and stiffer springs in the rear vs the BRZ. ”
I guess it should say FRS somewhere in this sentence.

So FRS is slightly better than the BRZ, unless we’re talking about the Series.Blue BRZ?

The FR-S has a 4U-GSE engine while the BRZ has a FA20. sarcasm

You know, I was slightly surprised to see FA20 as the engine label in the Scion user manual. But pleased as well.

The most relevant difference is that on the BRZ you can put a STI badge on the trunk.

Kind of makes me want a brz more. more prone to understeer = more power put down coming out of corners.
i guess that goes out the window when you go aftermarket though
