4 Meaningful Differences Between The Subaru BRZ and Scion FRS

  1. The manual FRS weighs 6 lbs less than the base manual BRZ. The auto FRS weighs 18 lbs less than the base auto BRZ.

  2. The FRS has a drag coefficient of 0.27, vs 0.28 (with spoiler) or 0.29 (without spoiler) on the BRZ. I believe this is due to panels under the car. (Series.Blue BRZ is 0.27).

  3. The FRS has softer springs up front and stiffer springs in the rear vs the BRZ. Theoretically this makes it slightly less prone to understeer.

  4. The Series.Blue BRZ wheels weighed about 3 lbs less (per wheel) vs the FRS. (Both are 17” alloys).

Sorry to sound like a troll but a 10lbs weight difference would be instantly offset by a driver’s weight, unless they’re gonna drive themselves

I like the BRZ headlights but it’s front grilles are just not my type, the 86/FR-S has better front grille styling

I think I already saw such a comparison somewhere on repokar.com in their blog, and I always vote for the Subaru, as it was my very first car and has a particular value for me.

The Toyota GT86 doesn’t exist in North America. It’s sold as the Scion FRS. Scion is a sub division of Toyota marketed at the young, hip and cool people.
