You say all this about protecting your clutch the rag the handbrake up without pressing the button causing extra wear on the teath handbrake (ebrake)
I just hope this has not been asked before. My brother once told me that you shouldn’t press the clutch when starting your car, since the starting process puts extra stress on the release bearing. Still most manufacturers force you to do it for starting your car today. Even if this might help to prevent people from starting the car whilst still in gear, isn’t this a lot of stress for the clutch? Or is it not that bad after all?
I didn’t know about resting your hand on the gear lever, but holding it in gear at a red light, hill starts, resting your foot on the clutch pedal… Who didn’t know this?
Vin Diesel says he can’t rest his hand off gear he needs shifting infinite ! -__-
Did anybody else cringe when he pulled the handbrake without pressing the button??
There’s no need to press the button.
I had bad experience with leaving car in gear at the stop light.I wasn’t at the stop light yet, light was red and i was rolling to it. I was in second gear, clutch was pressed and i was rolling at about 5-7 km/h…. And than the clutch cable snapped and i was on my way in second gear crossed red light and stopped right after it. I was lucky because it was late evening and there was no cars there.I got my lession.
i’ve learned driving with my father, and i didn’t learn the ‘do not rest your hand on the gear shift’.. that was for me the only part i didn’t learn.. :D but i’m not pulling to much pressure on it.. :)
How about drinking and drive while talking on a cellphone in a manual?
6: Don’t get rid of the manual transmission. If you do, you’ll surely regret it.
