Advice for hill starts in a manual?
So today I stopped on a steep hill. When I had to start moving, I revved the car to 1500 rpm’s, and slowly let off the clutch. I stalled. Do I need to rev the motor to a higher rpm to not stall?

More gas and yes bit more revs
Thank you! All I need to do is practice now.
As you start moving apply more gas so that you keep the rpms up
You can also try starting with a handbrake
Pull up the handbrake
Start depressing the clutch until it starts grabbing
Get the engine onto a higher revs then slowly start letting the handbrake down and depressing the clutch even more until you let go of the clutch
Try that method and you should be golden
Redline it and drop the clutch :D or just pull the hand brake enough to not roll and then give it more gas
The first option sounds more fun LOL!
Full on the brakes
Start depressing the clutch
Once it starts vibrating release brakes and accelerate smoothly
Don’t fully release the clutch when doing hill starts, only fully release the clutch when you start moving forwards. Tip: If you’re either moving backwards or stationary give it more gas or release the clutch just a little bit.
On hillstars I start releasing the cluth with the brakes on, then release the brakes and slowly start to accelerate. This way you don’t need to rev the motor to much.
Using the handbrake is another option.
Buy a Subaru. They have a hill holder for this exact reason.
…Which I disabled because it is the most inept system ever.
It’s called heel-toe-braking and it works.
The mustang has hill start assist, so that isn’t the issue. I just need to work on adjusting the rpm’s.
Release clutch at the same time step on the gas pedal a bit hard.
What do u drive? What kind of car stalls at 1500
if you let the clutch up too fast every car we stall. you let up clucht untill car starts rolling once we are rolling you can give gas
Heel-toe. Toe is on brakes, heel is on throttle.
I’ve yet to learn how to master this :(
Never had a problem with hill starts or rev matching but I just can’t heel toe, always to rough, any pointers?
