How this BMW V10's exhaust glows purple is beyond me, but it's still cool to watch!

@Jake Orr, it mainly glows that color because some cameras cause the color shift because of their software/hardware can’t trantranslate it any other way. I have first hand experience with titanium exhausts as I used to race cars :)

So if we were watching that with out eyes, then we’d see the exhaust glow orange, as normal?

It’s not because it’s titanium nor because of its coating. All colors that your eyes detect are because of electromagnetic waves. Each color has a specific wavelength. When something is heated, it emits waves, some we can see, many we can’t (micro-waves, IR.) The camera here most likely has a poor IR filter, which shows these waves on your screen. Try shining your TV remote (IR wavelength) into your phone’s camera while pressing buttons. A more relevant example though would be to heat up your stove and look at it through your phone’s camera. Same thing as in this video right? And Im sure your stove is not titanium nor is it coated purple.

any metal can still glow purple. It is not necessarily the camera.

They must be using similar technology to Honda. Only the farts of mythical creatures can produce that effect on an exhaust.
