I took my front bumper cover off, to see why the bumper was "loose."
The car has been damaged. The bumper bar is bent. It's consistent with damage caused by hitting a rock. Someone crashed my WRX before I got it. Frame not bent/cracked.
Cheer up, it’s not as bad as it could’ve been. This is easily fixable with a blowtorch and some hammering.
Thanks for making me feel very safe. That bumper bar must be replaced when even lightly bumped. It is an integral part of the safety design of the vehicle. I need mine replaced, I know that.
I’m more mad - this should not have passed a safety.

No. Bad. Don’t take Jeremy Clarkson’s advice on anything. The bumper bar is a safety item. Remember, JC’s favourite thing to do, was to rear-end James May. This would have done similar damage. Every car he ever drove in one of those challenges was a write-off when he was finished filming.
The problem I am most angry about, is that I bought the car with an Ontario province safety inspection done. This safety inspection was illegally performed and I am going to have the mechanic’s license revoked. I am a mechanic, I know how this works. I have done safety inspections. I have replaced a bumper bar before - this is the second time my family has purchased a vehicle with a bent front bumper bar. The first time was a Hyundai, which I personally inspected and repaired by the book with the guidance of a licensed AST.
This is unacceptable. I am holding this tech. accountable.
If they went to all the effort of hiding the damage by getting a new bumper and whatever else needed replacing I don’t know why they didn’t get a new crash bar too, they’re not normally that expensive…
Yeah. I was warned about the dealership, but even after repairing this, I would still have money left over, vs. if I had purchased from the other dealerships. But, this is the last car they get away with…

Not sure what sort of laws you have there, but here crash damage has to be disclosed if it is known to the dealer.

If crash damage exceeds $1000 CDN, it must be reported. Sometimes it is not. This is one of those cases.
I don’t think its a big deal. That maybe be the original bumper. I’d drive it as is. Don’t know if its a safety requirement but i have seen many cars with this

That sucks. I had a the same issue with the rear bumper on my Impreza being loose. I didn’t need to take off the bumper to find out though, as you can see a small crumple under the boot floor cover. Lesson learn’t for other things to check for next time I buy a car :/
So, your frame was bent? Ouch, that’s typically a write-off. What became of that?
That sucks. I discover new flaws on my integra every day. I figured out that my civic had been in an accident shortly after buying it. Repainted fender and bumper. You could see a bit of overspray under the side mirror. Oh well, it could have been worse!
