One of the main reasons why people hate the current Dodge Dart. #Rant

1. It’s name. Like Need For Speed MW 2012 (which I love) a lot of people hate the game, and for a lot of people. It’s not for the game itself. It’s because………….. Of the name.

You saw that correctly, the name. They saw it would be a better game if it wasn’t called Need For Speed, more so Burn Out Paradise, and that’s absurd, like the name some how takes away from the gaming experience.

And for the Dart, it’s because of the name, and what it’s become.

1968 Dart

2015 Dodge Dart R/T Poison concept.

The reason they hate it is because they say “it’s a shame of the Dart name”. When even the old Dart was an economy car. The other reason they hate it is because it’s become a more handling bias vehicle. Rather then a Muscle car. Which is also rather lame. Because, once again. The original Dart wasn’t a Muscle car. It was until Mr.Norm and his engineers saw the demand and brought it to the enthusiasts who wanted one.

So, it now appears that Road Race Motorsports have repeated history and given the Darts owners way to get more punch.

They’ve made a Turbo kit for under 5 grand with all the bits and bobs you need to turbo your Dart. It works with the manual and auto 2.4 TigerShark. And the 2.0 liter manual and auto. They say they got 251 wheel hp. That’s 300 hp at the crank.

Also, to the people who say “the new Neon” like an insult. It isn’t one. Because the original one was an Autocrossing god with great handling. And the second gen one got the SRT 4.

So, how do you feel about the Dart now?

I have always liked the new Dart… I don’t care too much about names honestly… Dodge has a tendency to do this

Thank you! Names are not what makes the car great. Even though names are a nice touch ;).

Also I really want the new Dart to be my first car. I’m saving up currently XD.

I don’t think it ‘s about the new Dart being a “handling biased vehicle” or whatever that is.Nor is it about the new Dart not being a muscle car. You’re correct in saying that the old Dart never really was a true muscle car, but that also doesn’t matter.

It’s just that the Dart name has been taken from a rear wheel drive inline 6 or V8 and given to a FWD four cylinder vehicle. Traditional people just don’t like that. The same thing happened in the early 1980’s with the Charger, and I don’t think people want to be reminded of that disaster either.

The New Dart might be a great car on its own, but sadly it has to live with a name that has too much meaning for its own good..

What you said, about the Dart name being put on a FWD four cylinder instead of a Muscle car with a V8. That’s exactly my point, because of this it’s not a muscle car. (Or at least being some form of midsize with a V8 at all).

Let me say it like this, if it was called the “Hornet” (like it was going to be called before they changed it) then everyone would be fine. But because it has a historical associated with muscle car Darts.

People think it won’t start over. And that’s my problem, just because the new Dart isn’t the old Dart doesn’t make it a terrible car.

Which some people on CT seem to think it does.

I don’t care about the names unless its something that makes you sick to your stomach or something like that

Can I just say, this is like when people buy cars because of the brand (like BMW and whatnot) rather then buying the car that’s under that brand. Both equally irritating for me.

Anyway, just because it’s not the old Dart doesn’t mean it’s a bad car.

It does fill the hole the Neon left, but just because it’s not RWD or isn’t V80 enough to be a muscle car doesn’t make it not a Dart, the old Dart was an eco car. So is this.

Did you not see the Turbo links I provided? Also, NO! They don’t need a “Hellcat” Dart. An SRT4 yes.

Yeah, but this whole “every Dodge car needs a Hellcat” engine thing is getting really old :(, would sound beast though.

It’s a great car. It may not had kept the original essence but everything changes with time. The Charger is a four door sedan now, but even so we love it, because it is a cool car, and because it stills deliver that muscle car feeling. The original dart was made to be a compact car for Chrysler, but in the 1960s even the compacts were muscle-ish, in a way the dart still holds the original purpose. Being a compact car, but now a days compact cars don’t and mustn’t have huge V8’s. It’s pretty understandable why today the compact car would have a 4 cylinder, and it still is amazing.
