One of the main reasons why people hate the current Dodge Dart. #Rant

1. It’s name. Like Need For Speed MW 2012 (which I love) a lot of people hate the game, and for a lot of people. It’s not for the game itself. It’s because………….. Of the name.

You saw that correctly, the name. They saw it would be a better game if it wasn’t called Need For Speed, more so Burn Out Paradise, and that’s absurd, like the name some how takes away from the gaming experience.

And for the Dart, it’s because of the name, and what it’s become.

1968 Dart

2015 Dodge Dart R/T Poison concept.

The reason they hate it is because they say “it’s a shame of the Dart name”. When even the old Dart was an economy car. The other reason they hate it is because it’s become a more handling bias vehicle. Rather then a Muscle car. Which is also rather lame. Because, once again. The original Dart wasn’t a Muscle car. It was until Mr.Norm and his engineers saw the demand and brought it to the enthusiasts who wanted one.

So, it now appears that Road Race Motorsports have repeated history and given the Darts owners way to get more punch.

They’ve made a Turbo kit for under 5 grand with all the bits and bobs you need to turbo your Dart. It works with the manual and auto 2.4 TigerShark. And the 2.0 liter manual and auto. They say they got 251 wheel hp. That’s 300 hp at the crank.

Also, to the people who say “the new Neon” like an insult. It isn’t one. Because the original one was an Autocrossing god with great handling. And the second gen one got the SRT 4.

So, how do you feel about the Dart now?

I think the main reason people hate it is because it’s just an all around crap vehicle.
The manual in these things is the worst I have ever used, paired with a clutch that needs to be ridden very slowly to keep the car from jumping like crazy… It has no “go”.
Its lifeless, no spirit at all.
On top of that, it isn’t comfortable. It not even very economic.

You must have gotten a bad one :(. Because I’ve read pretty much the exact opposite. Of course it could also be your different preferences. (All though to be fair I have read some of the same things too).

Interesting reference to NFS Most Wanted 2012. I played it, and it really is just like Burnout Paradise like you said. The only major additions are real cars, police, and a different map.

Part of the reason that people have a sour taste in their mouths over the Dart is that there is no performance to go along with the name. Honestly, putting the Dart name on the car wasn’t a bad call. But many people were looking forward to an “SRT-4” variation that had been long-rumored but never materialized. Even the Dart GLH concept that was shown at SEMA was lackluster in the power department…looked great, but that’s it. When you have cars like the Evo (R.I.P.), STI and the Focus RS out and about, having a small car isn’t a penalty, but not having a performance version becomes one.

Yeah. It needs more power to match it’s handling.

V6? RWD? Styling? It just seems rather un-American and very un-Dodge. I know it’s just how compact cars are these days but I don’t think Dart was the right name for a car like this.
