My grandpa was working for the Philippine embassy back in the late 90’s and we had a Land Rover Discovery and a Mercedes E-Class. I guess thats where it got stared. I remember I could figure out what brand the any car is hahaha

Oh I can remember everything… absolutely everything…

It must have started when I was 3. My mother used to play a game with me when we were in the car together (something to keep a hyperactive kid busy). She would point a car and I had to tell her what brand that car was. Sounds unrealistic, but that’s probably how it began.

From then on, my interest was always the same, no matter how old I was: cars, cars, cars. The greatest interest of my life from those early days. Watching F1 with my dad from since elementary school made me appreciate what a great world was the world of racing.

In primary school, I was always the geek/nerd/no-lifer who knew more than the others about cars. It was also back then, that my passion for rallying sparked, since a friend of my grandad was an amateur rally driver, took me for a spin. Colin McRae rally sure helped too! At the age of 9 I was vaguely following the WRC, tuning in the WRC show on TV to randomly catch highlights from rallies and live my own rally fantasies. Oh and those endless days spent playing Gran Turismo 2…

It was then that I had my first crush on a car that I actually lived with: My dad’s (Japanese import) 1997 Honda Prelude 2.2 Type S. I always asked him to rev the hell out of it when we were entering highways! Sadly, he sold it a few years after.

My early teens unfortunately were polluted with an interest in RICE. Fortunately I grew out of it very quickly into substantial stuff. Again in high school I was the car-nerd guy. I was lucky, it allowed me to see how easily people can judge you and be snobby/bully you because you like to learn things they find boring or “just showing off”.

Unfortunately the only “racing experience” I have is virtual: simulated racing. I managed to build a decent rig though, and was damn good at simulated racing (especially RBR) back when I was spending loads of time on my sim rig.

My first real life driving experience was with my grandad’s 1976 Mitsubishi Colt when I was 13, 4-speed manual. My first and current car is a 2010 Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6 (yes, knowing me my parents wouldn’t let me drive anything much wilder).

And now here I am, studying MechEng for a chance to get involved with the engineering behind everything that I adored from 3 years old.

cool story bro

It either started with 95 cents at Walmart, or a ‘47 Chevy Fleetmaster

2 of my uncles had first gem RX7s, as a kid I would sit and read the owners manual over and over. Still love them to this day.

My father owned a Volvo 850gle full leather. As a kid, I loved that car a lot, than, after my father died, she sold it.

Saw Fast and Furious as a kid, I think I was 9 years old then. Then the Need For Speed games came. Now I’m 22 and looking forwards to my first car and my dream cars.

Why first car as 22 years old? Because I wanted it to be special, to get drivers licence and car at once and since my family aint that rich as many are, I have pushed it later for a few years.

I started watching Top Gear for their humour a while ago and after bingewatching it I decided to learn more about cars because I had realized how awesome they are. Also I think Carthrottle is the reason why I kept my interest in cars, partly because of their great articles and partly because I googled every joke/meme I didn’t understand:) Thank you CT Community for opening my eyes!! :)

Nobody in my family is into cars but me. Video games did the trick for me. I honestly think I got into racing by playing Sonic the Hedgehog with my dad on the Sega Genesis. I had some casual racing games, but playing Gran Turismo 4 at my cousin’s house was just a thrill. The late 80’s to early 2000’s Japanese cars were so much fun and felt so realistic at the time. I still dive back into GT4 from time to time. Midnight Club 3 got me into the modification world too. Your car reflects your personality, and everything from the sound of your exhaust to how low your car is reflects that.

When I was a baby. Some of my first words were car brands names. My mom printed out the logos and I said them. While all the other kids my age played football and such during their free time and recess (Still the same today) I was just looking at the cars in the parking lot. Nowadays, I still don’t play sports. I just have a love for cars, and nobody is going to stop my love and passion, for cars.

For me everything started when I was 5-7 years old. My dad brought home the first f&f movie, and I watched it on repeat so much he hid it from me. Then I became a GT-R fanboy at the age of 7. But now I realize that me owning an r34 will be put off for 10 more years (U.S.A. land of the free, right?) but as of now I have an RX-8 and am getting it prepped for autocross. I owe my obsession of cars to Paul Walker, and my dad. Ive made pretty much my entire friendbase through cars.
