Which car makes you most sad because you'll probably never be able to afford it?

There comes a time in life (for me it’s 3-4 times a day) where you have an awful moment of realisation, that ‘the dream car’ is probably only ever going to be nothing more than a dream.

I love nothing more than a bit of ‘internet window shopping’ scrolling through the classified advert websites looking at cars I’d love to one day own. Every so often I stumble across something that makes me melt inside, something that triggers a desire of want so strong, that it’s almost uncomfortable.

This feeling is then usually followed up with a horrible sinking empty feeling. It’s that feeling backed up by the little voice in my head that says; "Realistically John, unless you win the lottery this isn’t ever going to happen, so tough luck, mate!" It’s horrible, it’s saddening and yet every day I put myself through the same dilemma.

For me, the 1995 Porsche 911 993 RS is exactly that. The one I’ve included as a screenshot above is a car that triggered that exact same horrible feeling just now.

I mean will you just look at it. It’s perfect, the colour is perfect, the wheels are perfect, the interior is perfect too, but yet it’s £225,000. Yep, two hundred and twenty-five thousand pounds. That’s more than $346,000(USD) or € 313,000(euros) a figure of money I’ll almost definitely never have to spend on a car. So I’m curious to know, which car does this for you?…

What car are you most struggling to come to terms with the fact you’ll probably never ever be able to afford?

Just in case you would like to see a little more of the car, it can be found by clicking here.

A Pagani Zonda.
Pagani’s been my fav car brand for a while and the C12S is probably the car I lust the most after. But it’s so stupidly rare there’s just no chance that I can get it one day. I’m only a student (or about to be one) and think there are great chances that I’ll have a really sweet ride when I’m like 40, but the Zonda will be as old as the Countach is today, and like 7 times rarer than an F40, so tough luck for getting one…
I mean, dat ENGINE, dem details, dat gearbox, dat versatility…

Get an old Mercedes S-Class Coupe with a V12, it’s the same as the one in the Zonda. Swap the exaust and you’ll atleast have a car that sounds like a Zonda 😉

Personally I prefer the tricolore, the combination of the blue carbon fibre and the gold wheels is just perfect. And ofcourse you cant beat the noise of a zonda

My favourite Zonda is the Revolucion… its so rare that most people don’t even know it exists today, by the time I’m 40, that Zonda will probably be the Holy Grail of all cars. I’m not sure driving one will be legal in the future though with its massive V12

If (super-)sports cars are banned one day (and it might be the case with such an autophobic country as France), I’ll become an outlaw before even driving one, because I’ll be killing with fire everything I see.
And more seriously I think the C12 S has a charm and soberness the latest Zondas don’t have. The F was the first one to feature that very shouty V12 with high-pitch engine notes. I’ve never had the chance to hear it IRL (and it must be so much better than on videos), but I think the C12 S sounds better, it’s just the perfect throaty V12 roaring, like the old Ferraris and Matras racing cars. The interior is a bit less """"garish"""" as well !

This one…or the 05-06 GT. They are just sweet cars. They have every bit of flare and passion that comes with a Ferrari, but they also have a uniquely american aura. And they will more than likely be multi-million dollar classics before I make enough to afford a car equivalent to their price new. I just hope to at least ride in one someday. That would be enough.

The Mclaren F1. I fell in love with it when I was a child siting in front of a big computer monitor playing Need For Speed 2. The doors, the V12, the looks, the center seat. Everything is just how cars should be made.

You sir are the exact same as me, I used to fly up that difficult track with the hills and snow in the McLaren F1 while split screening my step dad in a F50 in Need for speed 2.. Good times :’)

Ferrari F40.

Ofcourse I absolutely love the Pagani Zonda, Mclaren F1, Ford GT and some other ones mentioned, for me the ultimate car is the F40. The rawness of it.. it isn’t perfect, not anything like you would expect from Ferrari, just a monster car that has gaps between fenders, big turbo’s, flaming exhausts and no radio or glass windows. Perfect!

Generally anything by Ford with an RS badge on it. Unless i want to put years of work into one, i won’t find a Saphire for less than 8-9k, a 3door for less than 14k (same for the Escort) and an RS500? I saw one up for over 60k recently. Anything earlier has been seriously expensive for a while now, and Focus’ are going the same way.

I would love to own a Porsche 930 Turbo 3.3 but I live in a country where the medium monthly paycheck is 350 euro, it’ll be just my dream car …
