Peter Monteverdi was born on the 7th of June 1934 in Binningen, on the outskirts of Basel in Switzerland. He is known primarily for founding the car manufacturer Monteverdi, which was based in Basel, but there is a lot more he did apart from that. In this article I will look into his early and not so well known cars, but also into the cars he is most famous for. Some of the cars in this post will be part of #MyDreamGarage, and will be pointed out as such. My Dream Garage #99: Monteverdi Special

Hi Everyone, So for those who weren’t aware three weeks ago I picked up the only new car I have ever owned, and by far the most expensive - a Lotus Evora 400. I’m still very much in the Honeymoon period and thoroughly enjoying my adventures with the car. As petrolheads, we often look at a range of cars that might not seem obvious rivals. There’s always someone out there saying “Do I buy a new M3, or an Alfa Romeo 4C?”. Sometimes our requirements can’t be put into a simple box like “four seats, 40mpg, diesel”. Sometimes we just have a price point and go out looking.

These are the tools I used. 2 jacks; 1 bottle jack and 1 trolley jack, a 13mm socket, a small spanner (I think it was an 8mm), some long nose pliers, some flat head screwdrivers, a small pen knife, a hammer, and a tyer iron.

Hello CT community, today I want to speak a bit about one of the games I played the most when I was a kid, FORD Racing 2. I must admit that this game is not very good or had the greatest physics or graphics. It was just pure fun arcade racing. What I loved the most was that there where a lot of different environments , You could race in a erupting volcano, in an oval circuit, there were also street circuits and even in the desert.

This is part 2 of my Holden history which covers the period from 1948 to 1964. Part 3 will cover the H-series cars and the various Torana’s until the introduction of the Commodore. Part 4 will cover the entire commodore lifespan from the VB to the VF. If there is further interest I will make a part 5 covering concept and custom coach built cars.

Owning an older car for more than a decade gives you a window into the minds of the people who designed and built the thing. Parts break, and when you fix them, you see the handy work that went into the original part. You see the purpose and execution of the design. Some of these things make you think “Oh, I see what Mr. Engineer did there! Clever girl.” Others make you think, “Meh, must of done it to save costs.” But every so often, you come across something that just makes you think: “WTF were they thinking!”

I’ve seen a few people wanting to get some info on the history of Aussie cars. So as a Holden owner and enthusiast I thought I’d shed some light on this topic showing Holden’s rich automotive history. This will be a condensed version covering the period going from the start to the first car. If anyone is interested further I’ll cover the rest of the history.

Ahh the WD40… The next liquid you apply when Holy Water doesn’t work. WD40, liquid equivalent of MacGyver, Swiss Army Knife, Duct tape, and my peni…. Everyone loves this can full of unicorn magic and use it on pretty much anything that moves. This unassuming oil became a legend, a meme. But not a lot of people know where did it come from and what it stands for. I’m pretty sure you don’t know it as well because you clicked on this post!

The description from “Gran Tursimo” As one of the foremost tuners of rotary engines, RE Amemiya, has a solid reputation for taking Mazda’s cars and making them into exotic-devouring supercars. The company entered the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) with an FD3S RX-7 in 1995, waging war in the GT300 class, against many factory teams, but RE Amemiya proved to be a giant-killer, as it consistently placed at the top of the pack.

Overview SEAT. The well recognised fun relative of Volkswagen. Their most notable creation of recent years is the insane Leon Cupra 280 - a sub 8 minute FWD hatchback. Their slightly tamer (but still potent) performance models come in FR guise, and it’s the refreshed Ibiza FR I’ve recently taken ownership of. The online configurator cost for a car specced as mine comes to a very reasonable £16,395 ROTR at the time of writing.

What is the Volvo S60? If you watch touring car racing you probably know the S60, most enthusiasts probably know this car also…soooo…T5? This car isn’t exactly one of those rare JDM machines that anyone but the most hardcore enthusiasts would know of, however I’ve only seen two of them in my state and if you decide to look this car up on Craigslist it seems everyone chooses the T6 model! Why? Cue needless yet amusing USA self hate. Because ‘Murica! Anything less than six cylinders is for weaklings and children!

Did you know that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the last year that the World Rally Championship was run exclusively under the Group A rules? Group A cars continued to compete and win after 1996 of course (Tommi Makkinen scooped 3 of his 4 titles in the years that followed), but they were increasingly replaced by cars built to the newly introduced WRC regulations.

The description from “Gran Tursimo” The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, held each summer on the Pikes Peak Highway near Colorado Springs, USA, is the world’s largest hill climb race. It is a 20.0 km course that rises 1400 m from 2800 m to 4301 m, featuring 156 corners ranging from highly technical 60 km/h hairpins to spectacular 200 km/h high speed corners. There is a temperature difference of 20 degress from starting point and the finish line, and the conditions are severe at best for the competition car.

There’s no doubting the fact that automotive ECU tuning has advanced in a huge way over the last decade or so, and it’s now easier than ever before to re-map your car for greater performance and an improved driving experience. The latest addition to this constantly evolving field comes from Shark Performance, namely the firm’s innovative Self Tuning System (STS), a sophisticated device which effectively allows for remote and bespoke vehicle remapping.

So, I decided my car would look a lot sharper if I tinted the tail lights. I picked up a bottle of VHT Nightshade, clear coat, 1000 & 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper, a couple microfiber cloths, and got to it. YOU CAN TAKE OUT THE TAIL LIGHTS BEFORE YOU DO THIS, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. It wasnt that I got paint on my car, it just would save a lot of time to not have to tape the whole rear end off, and make sanding much easier. First off, I used some isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean off my tail lights. Then I started to wet sand.

Project Heinz is a 2001 BMW 330ci purchased here in sunny San Diego, California. I had been wanting something fun and rear wheel drive for a while. Here in SoCal there are some amazing roads, and it’s a crime not to have something to drive them in on a regular basis.

3000 miles, and 3000 smiles. The Gumball 3000 is an annual road rally where wealthy drivers drop anywhere between US$36,000 (25,000GBP) to $120,000 (83,000GBP) to enter one car and two drivers. What does that get an entrant? Wild memories, adrenaline, VIP parties, super-fancy hotels, some fancy meals, live entertainment, alcohol, a brotherhood, and (in some years) plane flights for both them and their cars. The rally was started in 1999 by Maximillion Cooper, and has occurred every year and grown in size.

Hard labor: First cars should be easy to get and easy to work on. Both of these parts might be true for the E30, but they need a lot of work, not exactly a good first project. Cash: Those cars need an excessive amount of cash in the back to be driven on the road. It is not just insurance, fuel and tax, there is also cash for parts. Old cars rust, Suspension will break and the interior will fall apart. Stuff like that comes with age.
