10 Irritating Automotive Features That Should Have Been Awesome
Adaptive cruise control
“Some cars just slam the brakes instead of releasing the gas when a car pulls in front of you. It gets annoying.”
Parking sensors
“They annoy the f* out of me. They’re cool for the first week, but after you get used to the length of your car, they’re annoying as hell!”
Automatic windscreen wipers
“When I want them to work they don’t, and when I want them to slow down they go ballistic!”
Plastic engine covers
“Any ‘stylish’ plastic cover in the engine-bay. Especially the the ones you have to remove to change a ruddy light bulb!”
Electric seats
“Electronic moving seats are so slow! I’d rather just do it manually.”

These systems seem like a great idea, but the volume never quite adjusts how you want it to…
Stop-start technology
The early systems could be a little jerky, but the majority of manufacturers have perfected their stop-start tech. So we don’t fully agree with CTzen MikeEM.
Pop-up headlights
“Whenever you press the button, your fuel mileage goes down! (Insert hate comments here.)”
Electronic parking brake
We genuinely feel sorry for the teenagers of the future. They will never get to experience the pure unadulterated joy of pulling massive skids around their local car-park. And good luck impressing the ladies with your electronic parking brake!
Passengers
Not really a ‘feature’ as such, but we were surprised to find out how many CTzens would rather ride alone!

Joke’s on you, my fuel economy is crap either way.
Pop-ups are worth it though (in my veiw anyway), and electric seats aren’t too bad because you can get that oh so sweet precise driving position where a manual has certain slots to fit in so it may not conform to you as comfortably as the power adjustment (true on it being painfully slow though)
I am very satisfied with my automatic volume control and my automatic wipers. I don’t mind my parking sensors, I’d rather the beep then a bump.
How about overly sensitive Auto Headlights?
On some cars, they turn on even when passing a short shaded section…
Drivers in front must think I am an impatient arse flashing them.
Jags have this issue, they litterally keep flashing while passing under trees…
I love the popup headlights on my NA!
For me it’s start stop… I’ve driven several cars that had this and as a concept it’s a good idea. But in most cases, the system just stops the car for a second or two, then fires back up. You won’t save fuel in two seconds! You just get annoyed.
I also dislike parking sensors. A rear camera is fine, but having the car beep like crazy is annoying.
Did anyone else just skip that electric seats GIF?
