Uber is a breakthrough as part of the digital revolutions. It owns no taxis, yet is the fastest growing cab company. This really says a lot..

Standard Hackney Carriages (black cabs for you Americans) are outdated, smelly, cramped and choked by laws, restrictions, expenses and everything else. The industry needs to adjust accordingly to the trends shown by what customers want and do not want from their transport providers

Uber is great. When a digital revolution happens in any market, everyone else has to adjust, or they will be phased out. The cabbies protesting against it are:
1) Unwilling to adapt
2) Obstructed by unions and organisations stuck in the mindset of the 1970’s
3) Scared of losing their livelihood

I feel for them, but change is necessary for creativity and inventive thinking. Otherwise, we’ll never progress anywhere…

You think British taxis are bad? Try the US. When I was in London, I rode in a number of black cabs and all their drivers were really nice, knew all the shortcuts, and some could even talk cars with me, especially F1. Meanwhile in the US, some taxi drivers don’t even speak fluent English and have no idea where they’re going. Most don’t even know what kind of car they’re driving…

Nobody has the right to force people to use their product/service or a right to keep their job indefinitely. Every company/person from CarThrottle, Taxi Drivers and Mr Regular have their time in the sunlight but not for permanently (AoL/Blackberry and maybe VAG Group) and in a generation, kids will have never heard of a taxi that has a driver and we won’t miss it, like posting a letter vs email. No one rides a horse and carriage anymore - get with the times or be left behind.

Adapt or die, if you only know how to drive taxi, ¿why you dont become a Uber driver too?

The market changes everyday. They’re not “stealing jobs” if those jobs aren’t there anymore, if you can’t adapt to a changing market that’s your problem.

Well, they are not stealing the job, they are doing their job. The world evolves, do you go around on an horse like people did back in the days?

I support the taxi drivers 100%. In the UK they have to pay at least 25,000 for a platen and have to have tests every sixth months to make sure their cars are up to scratch. User drivers pay nothing and can drive any crap heap they want.

Mate you’re confused, London is literally the only place where they work legally. Uber drivers here have to be a taxi driver/minicab this excludes black cabs
They have to drive a car within 3-4 year old and have to undertake an mot each month and have correct insurance. Not anyone can just go on uber here. But with what I’m hearing they’re not working legally else where. But in terms of London I fully well support them

Let’s face it, Uber is the future and what these people did, even in protest was wrong. In fact, I’ve noticed something about people today. When protesting, things tend to get out of hand. Just look at Baltimore and Chicago, cities where practically destroyed. This needs to stop, people need to get with the times. Change is real…
