Formula 1 is full of awkward situations, whether they be awkward interviews, radio messages or press conferences. To celebrate this awkwardness, we've selected eight of the most cringe-worthy F1 moments on TV...

1. Raikkonen hilariously misses Schumacher's retirement presentation

Kimi has always been an interesting driver to interview, simply because he doesn't give a damn! Here, Martin Brundle - then working for ITV - asked the 'Iceman' why he failed to appear at Schumacher's first retirement presentation at the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix. His response? Nature called...although he used a slightly different choice of vocabulary...

2. Rosberg thrown by Vettel's mischief

Sebastian Vettel is known for his mischievous personality and during the usual Thursday press conference, he moved Nico Rosberg's microphone. This meant Nico completely lost his train of thought and forgot the rest of his answer to the question.

3. Bernie Ecclestone makes for a terrible interviewee

Mr Ecclestone has never been a simple man to interview, and here Lee McKenzie - the BBC's pit reporter - works hard to get an answer out of the F1 boss during a rain delay during last years British Grand Prix qualifying. There's also a fantastic awkward silence after she is persuaded to ask Bernie if she can "see his home." Cue a blank stare.

4. Ronaldo's kid hates Formula 1

Now not everyone is a fan of motor racing, but declaring it on live TV during the build up to a Formula 1 race isn't the best time to say so. However when the BBC's former presenter Jake Humphrey quizzed former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo's kid about the sport, he just wanted to go home.

5. No Lee, Kimi won't take off his sunglasses

If Raikkonen wants to wear sunglasses, he will. Lee McKenzie (again) obviously wasn't given the memo when interviewing the Finn in Malaysia. Lesson learned Lee, lesson learned...

6. Kimi cheered by fans after dropping the 'S' bomb, Vettel not so much...

Formula 1 recently saw the introduction of podium interviews and David Coulthard was given the tough job of getting some kind of emotion out of Kimi Raikkonen. He didn't, naturally, but the Finn did drop the "Sh*t" bomb live to the world. The crowd let out cheers and shouts of "wheeeeeyyy" because it's Kimi. Naturally. However, when Vettel attempted to follow suit, his 'F' bomb drew awkward silence from the audience.

7. Kimi (again) knows what he is doing...

This isn't necessarily awkward for Kimi, but it was most definitely awkward for the man on the other end of the radio call. A mid-race radio message didn't go down well with Raikkonen, who just wanted to focus on the race in hand. The engineer on the other side got a firm warning, and that was backed up with another message basically telling him to shut up. Very funny, very Kimi.

8. Kimi's lack of enthusiasm dialled up to 11
