You know what, I’m getting sick of this whole “automatics suck” thing.
I have driven both an auto and manuals for the last 10 years, my first car I learnt to drive in was a manual.
But at the end of the day I prefer an auto. The technology has such a long way over the years, yes manual was faster to shift, yes manual was more fuel efficient and manual still is the best feeling to drive, now here’s the big thing these days, most autos shift faster, most autos use less fuel.
I had test drove two cars at the dealership. One an auto and one a manual, I wanted a manual for NOSTALGIC reasons but at the end of it the auto won in all areas with faster shift times to smoother shifting and better fuel economy.
Autos are the future and have have surpassed manuals.
My car auto down shifts to stay in the power range when I’m doing some spirited driving it holds gears gears longer changes at the right time, there is no second guessing when to down shift or upshift, it is always in the perfect gear for spirited driving and the harder it push it the better it responds to me.
That’s why I have bought an auto and not a manual.
My friend bought a manual and of the line I am quicker, quicker gear changes and can get through corners quicker.
So really this whole auto sucks culture is only based on cars that are 10 years or older.

Do a favourite for me and two brand new cars and test them against each other and then tell me that autos suck because trust me 7 out of 10 times the auto will win in all areas these days.

OK end of rant guys

Can you push-start an auto? Without getting another car to push it up to speed? This is why I stick to manuals. Because I WILL leave my lights on at some point, and if I have a manual, I will be able to get home without jumper leads. You’re right though, in every other aspect. Auto’s are the better transmission nowdays. Provided you have auto lights. :P
