Bugatti's Vision Gran Turismo Project Looks Like A Fully Riced Veyron
The fantastic thing about the Vision Gran Turismo project is that it lets manufacturers’ designers go a little bit wild. It gives them the opportunity to get creative outside the constriction of reality, where budgets and red tape limit what’s possible.
Over the years we’ve seen the futuristic Chevrolet Chaparral 2X, which flings the pilot along the track face first, and the utterly bonkers SRT Tomahawk, which features the wildest active aero you’ll ever witness.
So when we saw this much-anticipated effort from Bugatti, we were more than a little disappointed. Essentially what we have here is a Veyron with slightly plumper fenders and a few wings added to every conceivable panel. In all fairness to Bugatti, all this aerodynamic addendum has a purpose, as the designers wanted the car to be as realistic as possible.
Taking a Veyron and transforming it into an undiluted race car is a pretty cool project, and there’s no doubting it’ll be an absolute weapon in the virtual world. We’ve just been left a little underwhelmed after the teaser appeared to show something completely insane was on the way.
Bugatti is creating a life size replica of its Vision Gran Turismo car to display at the Frankfurt Motor Show from 17 September.
