Cab Drivers Are Losing Their Minds And Blocking Emergency Vehicles In Shocking Anti-Uber Demonstrations

Although I do understand that these taxi drivers who work tirelessly are being driven out of a job. All the Ubers I have taken have been registered minicabs, so it seems to me that some minicab drivers are working as uber drivers as well, in order to earn more money.

People have been protesting new technology because it hurts their jobs for years. You won’t get anywhere holding on to the past. As a machinist I see 3D printers as a huge threat down the line, but I plan on being ahead of that curve instead of protesting it. It’s the new and better way.

In cases where cities have a prominent taxi presence where the cabs only do street pickups, uber is only really cutting into small percentages of their business. In a lot of cases they are mostly catching overflow business and “shots” (going out of town calls). In a lot of cities where the cabs are called in and dispatched and otherwise picking up at taxi stands, they barely hurt them at all. My customers always ask me if Uber is hurting my business, and they don’t. Because our digital dispatch service builds us phone apps and such similar to Uber, on top us of keeping prices compatible with them, and uber even taking longer to pick them up (no one likes waiting for cars), uber doesn’t do much damage. If you’re willing to keep up with the times, uber doesn’t take away enough business to complain about.

Uber has been banned in Germany, but you can still manage to get an Uber ride. This is also a good thing. Taxis are so ridiculously expensive and unflexible. Also the whole system needs a big overhaul. Calling a taxi is quite the 90s thing to do. We’re in 2015 - Uber provides an app-driven service which is so much more convenient. Ever called a cab from a crowded bar or a party? I do not want to go outside into the cold - then I might aswell just put on my coat and walk to the next bus or tram station.

these Taxi drivers needs to chill. i have to say i rather prefer Über driving on the streets then a normal taxi driver because here in Sweden where i live they have really no respect for people and driver in their surrounding.

In lithuania, Uber is only starting up, and no taxi companies are braking stuff or anything, because there is an few taxi apps, and bigger taxi companies have contracts with these app creators, so they could be enlisted as a possible taxi pick-up. When all the taxi’s you see are 318 E36, VW Passat’s (B3 or B4), Sharan’s, Galaxy’s, Zafira’s, or other cars that are easy to maintain and dont have huge fuel costs. And prices are fair too. From city center to near the limits of city in 4 am costs about 5-6 euros

Taxi drivers for the most part have been scummy people for me.

Way too many Toronto’s taxis are rolling dumpsters with exorbitant prices. No wonder uber is sweeping the floor clean under them.

We have the same problem in Dominican Republic. Taxi drivers doesn’t wat ubers.
