Fiorano lap times may not be held in the same esteem as other tracks like the Nürburgring, with the circuit reserved exclusively for Ferrari models, but they do provide a point of comparison for just how mind-blowing the Italian manufacturer’s creations can be. Well, the new SF90 XX Stradale just smashed the production car record.

Setting a 1:17.309 around the 1.9-mile circuit, the XX shaved 1.4 seconds off the lap time of the base car equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package. It’s worth noting both times were set on Michelin Cup 2 R tyres, so it’s purely down to the improvements made on the new car rather than rubber at play.

For comparison, that’s also 2.4 seconds faster than a LeFerrari and 3.7 ahead of a 296 GTB. Still, it’s somewhat short of the overall record of 55.999 seconds set by Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari F2004. No real shock there.

What exactly makes the XX different from any regular Ferrari SF90 Stradale? For a start, there’s a new aerodynamic package that produces 530kg of downforce at 155mph - 315kg of that comes from the fixed rear wing alone.

Power is upped ever so slightly too, with a 17bhp bump from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to 1,1016bhp when you factor the three electric motors in. That increase comes courtesy of lighter pistons, a reworked combustion chamber, polished inlet and exhaust ducts plus a higher compression ratio.

Want one? Provided Ferrari hasn’t parted ways with all 599 of the coupes and 399 of the Spiders, you’ll be looking to part with at least €770,000. Still, it’s significantly cheaper than this prancing horse.
