The Gloriously Analogue SCG 004S Is A Left-Field Swipe At Ferrari And McLaren
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, the company that was this year making noises about challenging for the all-time all-car Nurburgring lap record, is ramping up its production volumes so customers can go racing.
The company has just been granted low-volume manufacturer status by the American National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), which means it can build up to 325 cars per year without having to worry about all the usual federal regulations, which cost a fortune to meet.
With that in the bag, Glickenhaus has set its sights on GTE, GTLM and GT3 racing series across the world with this, the mid-engined SCG 004S. The ‘S’ signifies that it’s meant for the road. It’s the homologation special developed out of a still-secret racecar variant.
Its 5.0-litre 650bhp twin-turbo V8 serves a meaty 531lb ft of torque to the rear wheels via a gated six-speed manual gearbox – or a paddle-operated automated manual, which would be a shame.
We love how analogue this thing seems. It’s just the driver, a big V8 and some fat rear tyres. We’d bet that it’d be way slower than a McLaren 720S or Ferrari 488 GTB on a circuit, but we also bet it’d be even more fun.
Inside the 004S it’s a three-seat affair with two chairs either side of and slightly behind the driver, a la McLaren F1. The driver therefore sits dead-centre, which is ideal for racing.
It’s mostly carbonfibre, natch, with weight said to be sub-1200kg dry. Expect it to be fast thanks to pretty mean aerodynamics including a long, long tail, integrated rear wing and huge diffuser.
Prices start at $400,000 for the US-built machine, which is a lot cheaper than the $2 million the company’s Italian-developed 003 model cost.

650bhp twin turbo V8 sending it’s power to the rear wheels through a six speed manual gearbox? This is like a breath of fresh air in a time of electric cars and tech-laden cars with automatic gearboxes.
I’ll take the first year’s entire allocation, please.
Yessssssse
I was feeling suffocated under these electric stuff… Finally, a breath of fresh air!!!
Not just any manual gearbox, but a gated manual gearbox
Yes, a big refresher to the tech advances we have now. A new production V8 RWD with a 6 spd manual is a rare sight nowadays!
Is this the child of the Jag XJ220, Ferrari 430 and the Ford Gt?
2020 Tesla Roadster < This
Also realized the driver placement. McLaren F1 anyone?
650hp v8 with gated manual > tesla roadster.
Besides whatever you prefer nobody even compared them one is a blast from the past and the other is from the future . Completely different approaches to a supercar
Altho I’m not hating on electric cars, I am downvoting you. This is by far better than the Tesla
ITS SO CUTE 😱 it looks like a prettier Huayra
There is nothing (modern) thats prettier than the huayra
“more MCLAREN posts” ???
Let’s hope the car is not as half-arsed as the renderings
So the love child of the p4/5 and a McLaren f1. Yep, sold. I’ll take the first 10 please.
I’d rather have the 003
Looks like a mix between the 2005 and 2017 Ford GT
It looks straight out of burnout revenge
