Lister Has Revealed A Devilish 666bhp, 200mph Jaguar F-Type

Lister is restarting its mission to become to Jaguar what AMG is to Mercedes, and the tuned, supercharged 5.0-litre Thunder is a mighty opening hand

Lister, the British company responsible for the famous ‘Knobbly’ racer and, more recently, road car, has stumped up a bonkers 666bhp, 208mph tuned Jaguar F-Type.

Based on an F-Type R Coupe, but rebadged and comprehensively re-engineered, this is the Lister Thunder. Only 99 will be built, priced at £139,950 a pop. Billed as the fastest, most powerful and most luxurious car it has ever produced, it’s set to make its bow at the Historic Motorsport International Show in London on 15 February.

Although it was first teased months ago, full details are being kept under wraps for now. We do know that the car should launch to 62mph in just over three seconds and to 100mph in 6.8 seconds, courtesy of tuning tweaks to Jaguar’s epic 5.0-litre Supercharged V8.

This isn’t the first time Lister and Jaguar have worked together; the Knobbly was a Lister-Jaguar project, too, with Jaguar power in a Lister-prepared chassis. This time the enamelled green-and-yellow Lister badge sits right in the middle of the nose, inside an eye-catching green trim strip bordering a mesh grille.

Below it is a new lower front bumper made from carbonfibre, featuring an extended splitter for greater downforce – or at least greater high-speed lift reduction. Vents have been cut into the new bonnet, decals added to the side panels and a colour-matching scheme spans the exterior and interior trim accents. There are larger, carbonfibre exhaust tips, so it’s looking good for a fist test.

There are 36 colour choices for the leather seats, which have Lister logos stitched into the headrests. The seat pattern is said to echo the car’s front grille.

Options include a carbonfibre bonnet that should save a good few kilograms, and Jaguar F-Type owners can order one as well for a mere £19,950. More projects like the Thunder are on the way, too.

Laurence Whittaker, CEO and owner of Lister, explains his vision for the company like this:

“Like Brabus and AMG with Mercedes and Alpina with BMW, we are hoping to become synonymous once again with tuning Jaguar vehicles, giving customers new enhanced, bespoke performance and design alternatives to Jaguar’s acclaimed model programme.

“Although we are not directly affiliated with Jaguar Land Rover, Lister has a Jaguar tuning heritage dating back 65 years. Our new Lister Thunder is the fastest and most powerful Lister ever created with a 208mph top speed and 0-100 time of just 6.8 seconds.

“I am utterly proud of what we have achieved, and the Thunder is just the beginning!”
