The Mazda RX-9 Could Be A 400bhp Rotary Weapon
After teasing the world with the RX-Vision concept earlier this year, Mazda has got the ball rolling again with plans to reveal a successor to the RX-8 at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.
Japanese website Holiday Auto has managed to get some inside information on the car, and the stats make for epic reading. The RX-9 could feature a 1.6-litre, twin-rotor turbocharged powertrain which should be good for at least 400bhp of rotary scream.
Those figures would make the RX-9 the most powerful production car ever produced by Mazda, but all this power will seemingly come at a cost. Estimations sit at around $80,000 (£60,500) which would make it nearly three-times the price of an RX-8. But for a return to rotary power for Mazda, I’m sure we’d be willing to pay the price!
Mazda has already trademarked the RX-9 badge, so fingers-crossed we will see a new rotary king by the end of the decade.

YEEEEEEEEAAAAH
Its a bit to expensive, but then its a rotary,so it will be great.I was hoping for pop-up headlamps, but its ok.I also hope that it wont be bigger than the RX-7.
$80k? Well, good luck with those sales numbers. I guess my hopes of ever having one are like a bug on a windshield… Just like the upcoming “Supra”.
