After a similar 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer sold for $551,200 back in 2008, auctioneers predicted that this example, owned by Steve McQueen, would sell for between $650,000 - $750,000. In fact, the experts underestimated the figure, with McQueen’s bike selling for an eye watering $852,500 - an incredible record breaker.

£578,084 ($852,500, €785027) in 2015.
