This Revolutionary Elevated Bus Rides Over Traffic

With the aim to reduce congestion in the busy cities of China, engineers have produced a bus that will tower over traffic and could clear the streets for petrolheads!

After only being presented in renders and computer animations, China has unveiled its attempt to rid its cities of congestion with this revolutionary bus design. Using channels on either side of the road, the TEB-1 (Transit Elevated Bus) has been manufactured and is now testing in Qinhuangdao, North East China.

The TEB-1 has the potential to carry around 1200 passengers at a speed of 40mph. However, with obvious problems like agility and manoeuvrability needing to be addressed, it may be a while before we see these engineering marvels in cities worldwide.

The current testing has been limited to a 300m track with simulated traffic passing underneath the ‘bus’, but it is a huge step towards a leap in the infrastructure of the Chinese cities involved. Considering the massively reduced cost compared to a subway system, the TBE-1 could be a cost-effective way to clear the streets for petrolheads around the globe.
