Watch An E46 BMW M3 Driver Get Caught Out By A Slow Moving Porsche Cayman At The 'Ring

In a classic example of the perils of the Nurburgring touristenfahrten, it looks like this BMW driver is completely caught out by the slower moving Cayman up ahead, leading to a spin followed by a hefty Armco hit

Ideally we’d like to see exactly what happened just before this video started, but it certainly looks like the E46 driver came in too hot, misjudging the speed of the sedately driven Porsche Cayman. Proceedings go south when he clips the grass while braking, sending the M3 into a perilous spin.

What’s your armchair analysis?

My couch analysis is that he should have stepped of the brake when the left tires hit the grass and try to pass the other car, dont think the car would have suffered any serious damage if hitting the side wall.

Well that Porsche didn’t drop out of the sky, so I guess he must have seen it before the bend. Braking in the corner at high speed o the urbs in the wet is never a good idea. I the end you can see the front tire, I believe he has some kind of semi slicks on there. Combine the above with a slower moving Porsche and all the ingredients for an accident are present.

That Guy Who Drives a Skoda

Someone didn’t go to Alex’s “how to drive like a BMW driver” where were his flashing lights? He wasn’t close enough to the porsche and not a single hand gesture telling him to move over, bitterly dissapointed in this.

Caro

BMW comes in, and cuts a little too deep, then is caught out by the slow moving Cayman directly in the middle of the road, tries to stop but still has a wheel on the grass, then overcorrects, meaning the car snaps and despite his best efforts to straighten out, he smacks the wall. Honestly, I think it would have been a better idea to place your foot all the way down on the brake and try to go with the spin, instead of against it, but I can’t tell the exact conditions of the track from a video and in a situation like that it’s understandable to panic.

I think that the one to blame is the Porsche driver, seriously why the f**k would anyone with enough brain drive this slowly on the middle of the track? And then when he saw him, if he even saw him, he could have moved to the right and stepped on the gas pedal to give the M3 driver some room to correct the car… If I were in the place of the BMW driver I would have been really mad at this guy.
