Why I HATE the 5th Gen Camaro.
#blogpost

First off…if you love or own one of these things, relax.
Know I hate it…but respect your right to love it.
Hey, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”, right?
No worries, then.
Lets get to some reasons why I feel this way.
Does this even matter?

It’s gonna jump around a lot. En…joy?

Bumblebee: Straight up EXPLOITATION of an American Icon

Okay, yes…the Bumblebee spec Camaro is a pretty awesome car. But for one: IT’S HOTSHOT not

Terrible movies. Awful.
I feel like Comic Book Guy is your perception of me, but I am not that cool.
Anyway
Back to the list of reasons I hate that its “Bumblebee” the Camaro
They should leave Bee-themed American cars to the pros

I know none of these are named Bumblebee and that a spec of a car shouldnt be the basis of my opinion of that car as a whole…but its really difficult not to think of every time I see a 5th gen.
I lame Michael Bay for putting Megan Fox in them.

He knew what he was doing...

For at least the whole first year of the Fifth Gen Camaro’s life after an 8 YEAR hiatus was just toys, posters, video games…
It made it appeal to a lot of people. But it didnt work on me.
See, I know that the open mouth gets fed…but some fatties should keep their mouth shut and not gain so much weight you nearly keel over and die. That was what happened.
The sales skyrocketed initially. Then started spiraling.
Always loosing to the Mustang.
Sales wise. Cant say for “on the track” because I really didnt follow this car. Why?

Somehow its both Boxy and Fat.

Funky combination of curves and lines…just makes for an unpleasant viewing experience. Number of reasons why that is. Mainly because…

Post 2008 Chevy

That’s right…make sure you leave real sharp points on your pitchforks.
Really not a fan of a LOT of Chevy cars after the good ole Taxpayer Bailout.
Because the ones I have lived with and seen every day

Suck.

Chevy just went downhill for a while there. They tried mixing it up by bringing back a classic ponycar. But they failed to make it a ponycar.
What we got in 2010 was just…this weird mix between a sports car, two door midsized sedan and a floppy attempt at a musclecar.
(Regular ones not the ZL1 or a modified one, obviously)
You get all the crappy plastic bits you’d expect from an American car after the 1980s. Remedial interior. But you get to go pretty fast.
Is it worth it though?
Is it worth all the attention?
All that machismo and testosterone. Eeesh.
Thats just weird to me.
The whole “Look at me”
Guess thats just proof I prefer Euro cars.
Sue me.
At this time, I end the post. 2:36 AM PST

At least the US version looks slightly better than it’s European brother. In EU the 5th gen Camaro has got these big ass ugly side mirrors and a steering wheel from Spark.

Ugh…those European taillights
Everything listed is just terrible

What about the 5th gen makes you defend it? Curious

I agree with you on the looks and the post-2008 Chevy bits. The lines are so not like how much nicer they were on the older gen Camaro (excluding the “catfish” Camaro), while attempting to look like a badass car, sacrificing visibility? Meanwhile, the Mustang has better visibility and styling (imo) and doesn’t seem to try hard at all. Unfortunately, I don’t like the current styling of either pony car much, so I suppose I’ll stick to 2010-2014 Mustangs.

I much rather prefer the Mustang, and the 6th gen looks way better.

Definitely looks way better. WAY better. They went back you near the size of the 90s Camaros. True ponycar sized. And now with all the effort put in making it much better at handling has turned it into a formidable Sport Coupe. Get the Z28 or the SS and you can really hold your own against Europeans of the same power level…but you spent half as much buying the car.

I have always been a Mustang guy so I guess that’s my reason. I always thought the 5th gen looked a bit weird. The only 5th gens I liked was the newer 1LE, ZL1, and Z28. I think they made the 6th gens look significantly better, they went with a more sporty look and after seeing it in person, they look quite good.

I don’t exactly get the “boxy and flat” part.

Dat Incredible Chadkake

So you don’t like it’s looks inside and out? OK, but you gotta respect it’s performance

Eh…maybe the ZL1 or the SS.
