We all know the Top Gear sequence where Richard Hammond tries to pronounce ‘Doppelkupplungsgetriebe’ (if you somehow missed it, watch it down below!).
Today I’ll show you 10 more funny German words for car parts, and you can try to pronounce them!

I’ve seen recently a word for EGR: Auspuffruckdrückventil. ;)
but as for me, all those names are very precise. You just know what’s that for and where it is mounted. In one word! :D

Actually it’s AGR in German. It means “Abgasrückführung” which is just the same as “exhaust gas recirculation”.

Try and say any of those words without sounding angry and you will understand why German engineering is so good! Everybody is terrified of the boss because he seems like he is always angry! 😂

My all-time-favourite is the word for speed limit: Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung

You can further enhance it by adding “top” so it becomes “hochgeschwindigkeitsbegrenzung”…

An other funny german Word if you are swedish is “Ölfilter” and means oilfilter but in sweden, öl means beer in english. A bit confusing but i hope you get it xD

That moment, when you’re trying to check a fuse, but the fuse box is in german and the manual is in swedish.

And yes, i did find the missing fuse for the cigarette lighter, just went and tried fuses in empty slots, and when one exoploded, i knew i found it :)

Actually Popup-Headlights are mostly called Schlafaugen, which means literally sleeping eyes. Klappscheinwerfer is like the formal name, but only less people really say that

And yet the vast majority of us Germans can’t say “the squirrel”..
