Error: Question invalid.
Let’s say you take a high-revving 2L that makes in the neighborhood of 250hp but very little torque (130ft•lbs?) and stick it in a Miata.
It’ll be a pretty fast thing with plenty of power… But now take that same engine and put it into an old Impala. It’ll be useless.

Likewise, you can have a 3L diesel that makes little HP but a wackload of torque. Would that be powerful even at 220hp?

It’s all relative.

It’s how it makes you feel, that’s what I believe.

100whp for every 1000lb. Is normally a good mark for a fun car

250-300 bhp is usually enough… It all depends on how the power is put down… The curb weight… Suspension setup… Basically, if it’s set up for lightness and agility, a moderate amount of power in my opinion is just as much fun as a break neck super/hyper car. Ex.) 80’s - 90’s sports cars…

It always depends on how heavy the car is I guess.. But I don’t think there’s any dispute that 300hp is powerful in most cars, e.g. the Mercedes CLK500 (pre-facelift) with 306hp is actually really powerful, and same definitely goes for the Golf R and others.
