It’s May, 1992 and NASCAR’s best drivers have returned to home base in Charlotte for the Winston race. This year, there’s a twist. For the first time ever, the Winston race will be run under the lights. It’s the first time ever a racetrack of any sort over half a mile will be lit up at night. 20 NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers will take to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 24 Degree Banking. What commenced was a 70 Lap, 3 Segment Slugfest between Kyle Petty, Davey Allison and Dale Earnhardt, but a night that started with such promise ended up in near tragedy.

Mazda has developed and been leasing two types of cars with hydrogen powered rotary engines, an eco friendly version of the engine notorious for having terrible fuel economy and being unable to meet emissions requirements. The hydrogen rotary project is interesting because it not only runs on hydrogen, but it can also run on typical gasoline, allowing it to have a large range.

Ask someone about the good old days of Need for Speed, they immediately get nostalgic about Most Wanted, Underground 2 and even Hot Pursuit 2. Carbon just gets criticized for its lack of police (I agree that’s true) and is put aside. Join me as I tell you what Carbon did right and why it is my favorite out of the Need for Speed series.

The 2017 World Rally Championship, all the excitement over the new rules, new cars, the return of Toyota. With so much to look on, all of it now have seems faded away with a crash right at the first stage of Rally Monte Carlo that claimed the life of a fan. This was the first death in the WRC for more than a decade since the death of Jorg Bastuck, co-driver to Aaron Burkart that was struck by another vehicle while changing a tire during the 2006 Rally of Catalunya.

4R70W is one of the most popular transmissions by Ford. The transmission is a revised version of Ford’s AODE transmission and was launched in 1993. It has been used in a number of cars manufactured by Ford, and the customised version of this transmission is now offered by many transmission manufacturers.

For as long as cars have existed, people have considered the greatest drivetrain platform to be the rear wheel drive method. All wheel drive platforms have also become very popular in forms such as the Nissan GTR and so on. But, there is one drive train that a majority of petrolheads strongly disagree with in terms of fun and handling, the front wheel drive platform.

Last night, Hayden Paddon and co-driver John Kennard were nearing the end of the Entrevaux-Ubraye stage (SS1), when disaster struck. While turning in for a sweeping left-hander, the New Zealand native hit a patch of black ice, causing the Hyundai i20 WRC to violently oversteer. The car then went off on the outside and made contact with the cliffside, flipping it on its right side.

Us Europeans will all recognize the C3 chassis Audi 100, the big German autobahn-locomotive that has been a part of any European cityscape for over 30 years now! But few people, even car guys, have ever really stopped to reflect over just what a fantastic car this was, and still is! I have, and I thought I’d share with you my thoughts on this big boxy German, and why it’s my favorite car ever made! Now this is gonna be one long-ass post so get yourself a nice cup of tea and make sure you’re sitting comfortably! Here goes:

The good the bad and the ugly
I was asked by a CTzen to check out assoluto racing for iOS, so I checked it out did a bit of research and found it was a Gran turismo look a like. My first thought was it wasn’t gonna be that bad, but oh boy where do I start. Good :

First, the engine A leaked document says the Corvette gets a DOHC V8 which could be the ZR1. By switching from OHV to DOHC, it allows more valves to be in place and make it more efficient and powerful Reports are saying that the ZR1 could be making anywhere from 700-900 horsepower. Which at an estimated starting price of $100,000-$150,000 is probably the best horsepower per dollar on the market. With a large wing and body kit, this won’t be your ordinary Corvette. The previous ZR1 didn’t look too different from the Z06 which could’ve made it a perfect sleeper.

222bhp from a 1.8 turbocharged engine, five doors, reasonable running costs and plenty of examples to choose from - the Seat Leon Cupra R represents an excellent all-rounder for a low investment.

I’m seeing more and more people on CT thinking stancing a car is a good idea. From an engineering perspective, here’s why its not.

Concept that revolutionized the F1 some years ago and leave in second plane the power that motors give to the car in the asphalt. Let’s start defining it by parts … Load: That thing that generates weight or pressure with respect to another, or to the structure that is transported. Aerodynamics: Part of the mechanics that studies the movement of gases over parked bodies and the behavior of things that move in the air.

Let’s start with a quick backstory to this adventure. This past summer I was working in Japan as an English instructor for Japanese high school students. During this time (about 7 weeks) I made it a point to experience as much as possible of the many petrolhead joys that Japan has to offer. I had the opportunity to do some incredible things, and I want to share some of my more exciting experiences with my fellow CTzens.

In 1978 Mazda had decided to put in a factory effort in the popular IMSA GT Championship, a North American racing series which was production based and at the time not too high budget. For the first year they entered the RX-3, which was a mid pack car, but it allowed Mazda to collect data, data which could be used in the development of the car for the following year: the RX-7.

Aftermarket tuning has been a way of life for many petrol heads for decades. In fact in the 1960’s,a car rental place by the name of Hertz had Ford Shelby Mustang GT350s for rent. Some people started to rent these and stuck even more powerful Shelby big blocks under the hood that almost doubled the original horsepower. Even in the 1930’s,they would bolt on huge superchargers onto Ford Model 48s and chop the roof down. This is believed to be the first aftermarket tuning. Anyway,I have seen many aftermarket companies such as HKS,RE Amemiya,Greddy,NISMO,and Veilside.

Misunderstandings People would be surprised to find that there even is a car scene in Pakistan probably because of the impression that the media has made of the country. People usually assume that people here wear turbans and ride around on camels and donkeys. Well they’re quite wrong…. The Affection For JDM Okay, I’ll admit that Pakistan’s car scene is most influenced by the Japanese car culture. It’s not like we don’t have any European or American cars in the scene, it’s just that they’re not quite as mainstream.

Nicholas Andreas Lauda was born in Vienna on February 22, 1949 into a prominent Austrian business and banking dynasty. Paper manufacturing was how Niki’s father made his fortune, though none of it would be made available for a contrary son who would surely bring the respected Lauda name into disrepute by playing at being a racing driver. To further educate himself in this field Niki forsook university and enrolled himself in racing’s school of hard knocks, paying for it with money borrowed from Austrian banks.

1st Generation (2003-2008) The first generation of the RX-8 was released the year after the final departure of the beloved RX-7 in Japan, and it left many people disappointed. The successor replaced the twin turbos of the previous car with natural aspiration, despite keeping the same sized 1.3L 2 rotor engine. Mazda gave this new version of the 13B a new name as well, the RENESIS.

Introduction Ahh the car culture. My favourite thing in the world. Modding cars, driving fast, listening to the sound of the engine. Sad thing it will die, die becouse we will spend all the oil we have. But is that the end? Eletric cars. Bad or great? Ok I’m not going to talk about the MPG, or anything like that. I will talk about 0-100 in 2.5 seconds. And it gets better.

It’s October 26th, 1997. A Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher pull up to the first 2 grid slots on the frontstraightaway of Circuito Permanente de Jerez. Both drivers qualified with identical lap times, and Villeneuve’s William’s teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen qualified 3rd, with the same time. Villeneuve and Schumacher were separated by 1 point in the Championship standings, with Schumacher out front. If Villeneuve finished ahead of the German, he would have the Championship. Schumacher was determined not to let this happen. He turned out to be a bit too determined.

The Codatronca was an Italian supercar project made by Spada Vetture Sport and was made in to two different models: The TS and the Monza. In this blogpost I am mainly going to be writing about the TS and briefly about the Monza. The Codatranca TS was introduced in 2008 and featured unique styling, with inspiration from the gorgeous Alfa Romeo TS (Tubolare Zagato) from 1963.
